Sophie Lovell interviewed Dame Zaha Hadid for uncube┬ámagazine in September 2015. It turned out to be one of the last published interviews with the architect before her untimely death in March 2016. uncube┬ádedicated an entire issue to the controversial architect whose work undisputedly pushed the technical and formal boundaries of building: “To mark the occasion of her 65th birthday we have consciously put aside for a moment the headline news fodder about working conditions in Qatar, Tokyo Stadium mudslinging and interview fiascos that you can read about everywhere else, to focus on the actual architecture. Issue no.37 is a portrait of a singular architect whose star has burned a glorious path from her birthplace in Baghdad, through the unbuilt/unbuildable wilderness years, to running a 400-strong office translating her unmistakable forms into the built environment all over the planet. Love her or hate her, one thing’s for sure: there ain’t nothing like this Dame!”
